The SAG Awards

Sorry I haven't blogged for couple of days, lacked some inspiration. But not anymore! the SAG awards changed my mood. There were some really shocking dresses, and others that are wonderful. What should I start with the good or the bad?

Lets go with the good first to keep the horrors away for a second and enjoy the pretty gowns.

Actress Kate Hudson glowed with this white dress, loved the hair do, simple yet elegant. Looking really gorgeous and beautiful.

Christina Applegate classy gown proved she got taste! the color is so in, the way the dress shows her curves is just excellent.

Samantha Harris wearing a bold, attractive dress that really stands out within a crowd! I love the pattern, the colors and everything about that gorgeous dress!

Moving on to the horror, the fashion failures of the day. I ain't any Cojo or a top fashion editor to judge but some things just look wrong! I will not comment on them I will leave you to decide your feelings towards the following images. Viewer discretion is advised.

Hope you enjoyed the post and thanks for your time ;)!

Project Runway: Episode 1

Yesterday I was watching the first episode of season 7 of project runway, gotta say, this season looks challenging with all hip, young and out of the box designers. I personally liked few dresses and the one I absolutely adored had won the challenge.

First, I will start with the dress I found most "mysterious". Ping Wu, who is originally from China is a physical therapist, I know very interesting. Anyhow, from the episode it was clear to me that her designs are on the basis of comfort from the study of the body, she does everything to flow with movement, interesting but fashionable enough? The Judges mentioned how creative and original her dress is. I think yes she had succeeded in making it comfortable but I don't think this design flatters the shape of the body very much. Therefore, she receives my "Mystery" award.
Moving on to the winning dress and the one I really think it deserved winning. The colors are wonderful, the print is exotic, and the technique is more then amazing. Designed by the creative Emilio Sosa a promising designer.

Moving on to the pretty judge Heidi Klum, I loved her top and jewelry, stunner.

More Then Just Abayas

Recently if you haven't noticed, Abayas are more contemporary, stylish and in fashion! Although the purpose of an Abaya remains the same, it is more fashionable then it ever was! It now comes in more then one style, color and design.

The art here is to be unique and look good with what you are wearing. Some Abaya designers I will be featuring next have gone beyond the norm and created a trend for fashionistas that enjoy being the center of attetnion.

DAS collection stands for Dafa, Abayah and Swayeya, synonyms of each other. The name itself gives you the sense that it is more then just an Abaya, it brings to my mind diffrent cultures and countires as well. DAS is the brainchild of sisters Reem and Hind Beljafla, Emirati nationals with diffrent backgrounds. I will leave you now with pictures worth thousands of words ;)!

I was just watching the last episode out of One Tree Hill. As soon as this jacket came on screen, my jaw literary dropped. I LOVED IT. Its classy, casual with a twist of elegance! I went and Googled it right away, it turned to be a 3.1 Phillip Lim Marching Band Jacket. Price tag is $695 and ITS SOLD OUT at Barney's! It goes perfectly well with black trousers and high heel boots. <3 I adore the total look!

The ESPADRILLE: An Absolute Essential

If you are amongst the people that have a hard time wearing high heels for work or school then the Espadrille are perfect for you! well at least for me ;P! Not all of us are lucky enough to be able to stand on a heel inches high and walk for hours, to the ones that can, BRAVO!

What attracts me to espadrilles is how comfy they are, you don't really feel you are standing on something high, your feet are on a well shaped slope which is comfortable for your back and for long walks. Most importantly, they hardly cause blisters if they fit you well.

Luckily, yesterday when I was surfing some fashion shops, Saks shoes page had a whole advertisement titled "The ESPADRILLE: An Absolute Essential ". You cant image how happy I was. Finally what is possible for me to wear is now a fashion essential! WOHO. Here are some of my favorites and are already on my wish list of things to buy!

Prada- Cutout Espadrille Wedges FOR $730.00

Christian Louboutin- Corazon Covered Espadrille Wedges FOR $495.00

Jimmy Choo-Wedge Espadrilles FOR $375.00

Prada Espadrille Wedges FOR $450.00

Valentino Side Bow Espadrille Wedges FOR $475.00

The price of a designer espadrilles range between $400-$700, simply not a bad investment so go run get yours now! ;)
